One of the keys to early learning and language development is reading to young children from the very beginning. Our home and my classroom are always literature rich environments and one of my favorite things to do is to read. I read to my children at home and to my students at school. And when I can find a few spare minutes I read my own books. Recently I was given two board books to review, and I loved them so much that I worked out a giveaway so that I could share these books with one lucky winner!
The board books “Opposite Things” and “Counting Things” teach basic preschool concepts with adorable illustrations and flaps to lift on every page, which makes for great interactive learning. The star of these books is Little Mouse, and he does a wonderful job of teaching young children. I love how simple the drawings are on each page, when books are too busy it can be hard for young ones to focus on the story or lesson in the book. The pictures in these books remind me of illustrations in books I had when I was a child. They are very retro.
